Thanksgiving countdown . . .
Only four more days until the big turkey pig-out! I can't wait for Thanksgiving. . . turkey, mashed potatoes, and my favorite, juicy green goblins! I like them fried.
Just so you know, the library will be closed on Thanksgiving Day--so that Miss Cindy and all the library staff can enjoy their fried goblins. We'll be open as usual the rest of the week though! Come in and find a book about the Pilgrims or turkeys--or dragons.
Gotta go catch some green goblins,
Leroy

It's showtime!
Have you been to the library recently. . . like within the past WEEK? There's a new puppet theater and a slew of puppets for kids to use! There ARE some rules: please take only 2 puppets per person, handle the puppets with care, and return them when finished. You can act out your favorite story or make up your own adventure! COME AND CHECK IT OUT!

We've been invaded. . .

Fortunately it's now under control, but last month the children's department was invaded by strange magical creatures that appeared out of nowhere. Well, that's what it seemed like to me! I later learned they were created by 5th and 6th graders from sticks, seed pods, leaves, plastic jugs, and other assorted recycled materials as part of the "Beyond the Castle: Creating Magical Creatures" art workshop led by Miss Jenny. What do you think of these guys?
I've heard there might be more art workshops like this to come. . .even though I'm a dragon, I'm a little nervous about that! I'll have to practice my fiercest fire-breathing roar! Stand back. . .
rrrrRRRRRRROOOOOAAAAARRRRRRrrr!!!

Leroy

Hey kids, Leroy here . . .
Kids, parents, dudes, and dudettes--welcome to my library blog! I'm Leroy the Library Dragon, the ultimate reading buddy and mascot of the East Longmeadow Public Library Children's Department, and I've been given a new task--to share hot stuff about the coolest place in town, the Children's Department at the East Longmeadow Public Library!
Being a dragon, I've got ways of gathering knowledge--which I'll share here, like events not-to-miss, fun things to do, awesome books to read, and of course, my favorite jokes.
So keep coming back to get the lowdown from me--Leroy the Library Dragon!
'til next time,
Leroy
P.S. - check out my Dragon Poll and be sure to vote!
