Count down. . .

to Christmas! Just so you know, the library will be closed all day Christmas eve and Christmas. It will also be closed all day New Year's eve and New Year's day. But you can come in and see me in between the holidays for a library fix. And we have a very special LEGO Build-a-Toy Sculpture event on Thursday, December 27 at 1:00. (No sign-up, but it's limited to the first 60 kids).

Oh, and make a note of this date - January 2 is the sign-up date for the next round of storytimes.

Gotta go look for sleigh tracks,
Leroy

Here's my Christmas list!

Want to know what I'm going to ask Santa for? Some of my favorite books! here's my list:

Kitten's First Full Moon by Kevin Henkes - this is a picture book with beautiful illustrations and a really sweet story about a kitten who thinks the moon is a bowl of milk. Winner of the 2005 Caldecott Medal. Ages 2 and up.

The Field Guide by Holly Black and Tony DiTerlizzi - this is the first book in The Spiderwick Chronicles series of five books about a family who move into a large, old house and discover a fantastic and dangerous world of faeries, elves, and other strange creatures. Ages 6 - 10.

The Higher Power of Lucky by Susan Patron - this is a poignant and powerful chapter book about a young girl growing up in a California trailer park and her concern that her guardian will abandon her. Winner of the 2006 Newbery Medal, for ages 9 -11.

How 'bout you? What books are on your Christmas list?

time to book--
Leroy

P.S. - There is an exhibit of the illustrations from The Spiderwick Chronicles at The Eric Carle Museum in Amherst through January 27 AND the movie is coming out in February. Check them out!

Winter favs. . .

Love the snow, don't you? When it snows, so many things become possible! Building a snowman, going sledding, making a snow angel, running inside to get warm with some hot cocoa, or curling up with a good book. And if you're like me, one of your favorite things is to search for hibernating goblins and catch them to fry for an afternoon snack. Yummmm.

Have you checked out all the stuff happening here at the library this month? Some more fav things of mine--holiday crafts, special story times, and scavenger hunts.

Boogie on in. . .
Leroy
